Tips to Finding the Best Testing and Tracking Software

The best tip to give the reader on this subject is to go to www.alexa.com and type "analytic tracking software" into the search engine. Alexa monitors every site's traffic on the web, and is able to tell you from statistics which ones are the best. This, however, is determined by numbers; what one will work for you will take time to figure out. Here are some questions to ask yourself and some tips to help you choose which one is best for you, as there are hundreds out there.
Ask yourself: Are you on a budget?
If you are on a budget, then first things first: find free software. This will allow you to track everything you need to on your site, and not pay anything for it. Some free tracking and testing sites include:

Ask yourself: What are your goals for your site?
If your goals are purely personal, then there's no point in getting a program designed to track and test visitors for marketing purposes, is there? Make sure that your goals add up to what you're looking for, this is important; otherwise you may be getting too much information (having a business tracking software when a personal one is needed) or not enough information (having a personal tracking software when a business one is needed).
Determine ahead of time if you can read and type HTML coding
If you can, great, you're set to get your software. But for some people it's complicated, and they may want to consider hiring a service to do this for them. At the very least, they could hire the service and have the people teach them.
Decide what you need before going on a search
Do you need a certain feature more than another? This can also help you determine the cost and how much you can or are willing to spend.Will you need another feature later on that you don't need now? Make your decisions now, and decide what you'll need in a month, 2 weeks from now.
Now that you have figured out what you need, it's time to look for different companies and services (and software for yourself) that offer anything they can to you, and YOU get to be the king and say "yes" or "no".
