What Comes After Keyword Selection?
from:Deb St. George, Publisher, GettingToSuccess.com
You've worked hard to find the perfect keywords for your website—now what? Once you've poured over the data and made the decision about the keywords you'll be using to optimize your web site for better search engine rankings it is time to put that information to work for you. The ultimate goal is to get the maximum return on your investment. Not all investments are financial investments. You want to make sure that the time you've devoted to choosing these keywords will pay off in the end, to reward you for all of your hard work.
This does not happen without careful planning and placement of these vital keywords. All good businesses require a plan in order to be successful. The same can be said of online businesses that utilize Internet marketing to turn a profit. In fact, with the current trend of doing business online it is even more important, in some ways, to have a solid plan before proceeding with your keyword and optimization efforts.
You've probably discovered during the course of your keyword research that there are plenty of impressive sites around competing for infamy on many of the same keywords that you are targeting. You must come up with a plan to make your website more impressive to the search engines and engaging enough to keep the visitors who stop by on your website when they are prepared to make the purchase. In other words, you need to be able to quickly capture the attention of your visitors and hold on to it.
Internet surfers are often inclined to spend a matter of seconds on a web page before moving on unless they find something they like. In other words, your benefit to them needs to jump out at them and grab their attention or you will need to find a method of engaging them as they are attempting to leave your site. Many are able to do this with a new system of advertising that offers a discount to those who attempt to navigate away from the page. It works and is something you may want to consider while creating your business plan.
You need to also have a plan for driving traffic to your website that is pre-screened according to your carefully targeted keywords. One way to do this that is popular is through article marketing. This allows you to address your target audience, build a rapport with them, and then lead them to your sales page. It's a great way to pre-screen customers as well as an interesting method of attracting traffic that is more likely to be interested in the products you are selling.
Keep your keyword research methods in mind during the life span of your project. You will want to constantly monitor, test, observe, and, on occasion, exchange keywords for phrases that may be more relevant or more profitable for your business. Create your plan but be prepared to revisit your plan and make changes as needed along the way—even if this means that additional keyword research is needed.
